NOBILIS

The first thing that comes to mind for a florist when he says “New Year” is nobilis. However, modern trends suggest mixing different types of coniferous plants: pine, cypress, thuja and other options that your imagination and flower suppliers are capable of.

The question arises: will coniferous plants behave the same during storage, work with them and subsequent care? The answer may be quite surprising.

Contrary to popular belief, nobilis is not spruce, but fir. It does not grow in our forests, so the best option is to order from flower suppliers.

How to store?

Nobilis is supplied “dry”, without water and does not require putting on water or a wet bag during storage. But dryness, of course, also does not like. therefore, it cannot be stored in heated rooms. It is best to keep the branches in the cold. It often happens that the refrigerator in the flower shop does not contain all the splendor of stocks of fir in the high season. The solution will be storage on the street, since the season is quite cool. In this case, you can not be afraid of frost. Fir is comfortable in sub-zero temperatures. Warehouse, garage, balcony – any of these options are great for a nobilis if they can accommodate the entire volume.

How to fix?

If we are talking about wreaths, table Christmas trees, and the like, branches can be attached to foam, hot glue, bouillon, someone uses fishing line or floral wire. The main thing is tight fastening and not spare the material.

In compositions, nobilis behaves well when placed on floral foam.

Tip: if the composition is used outdoors, for example, to decorate a shop window, nobilis will not need water replenishment, you can do without foam.

How to care?

In heated rooms it is rather dry, and so that the branches do not dry out. it will take a lot of water. Compositions on foam should be watered daily in the same way as compositions with flowers: pour water in a thin stream, distributing and nourishing the foam.

It is more difficult with wreaths if it is not a street wreath in a country house. It will not be possible to keep wreaths in a dry room for a long time. But the plus is that, unlike spruce, nobilis does not crumble and dries out almost without losing aesthetics.

PINE

Unlike nobilis, pine grows almost everywhere in Russia, so finding beautiful branches is easier. It would seem a great option, went into the woods and cut. But it is not always easier to cut them in the forest, unless you have the skills of a climber to climb a ship’s pine. In any case, flower stands and Christmas tree markets offer a good selection of pine branches in season.

How to store?

It is desirable to store pine on water, although it can be dry in the cold for a short time. Unfortunately, the long beautiful pine needles can turn yellow and fall off, so it is best to treat it like a rose, for example. The storage conditions are the same.

How to fix?

Just like the nobilis. The method of fastening in this case does not depend on the type of plant, but on the convenience and reliability of fastening. If it’s hot melt adhesive, it’s a good idea to seal the cut while it’s still wet to seal in the liquid and reduce evaporation from that point. It is optimal to use pine on floral foam, so as not to worry about its condition a week after the sale. Or on kenzan, so that it keeps the green color and needles in place longer:

Tip: In order not to damage the kenzan needles, the lower part of the coniferous plant branch can be split into 2-4 parts, as far as the thickness of the branch allows.

How to care?

It will not work to keep pine dry for a long time, so it is best to simply not use it in such long-lasting products as a wreath or table Christmas tree. And we take care of the compositions on the foam as usual.

CYPRESS

A noble look and unpretentiousness almost like a nobilis – this is what cypress is valuable for a florist who wants to be in trend and work with a mix of coniferous plants. The long soft branches of cypress bring a beautiful variety of textures to any Christmas project.

How to store?

Like nobilis, cypress can be stored without water and in the cold. But you also need to pay attention to how it lies: soft “needles” can be wrinkled or broken if you put it inaccurately.

How to fix?

There is no need to reinvent the wheel here either. Broth, hot glue, wire – any method of fastening will work, the main thing is to be careful.

Tip: Cypress looks best in mixes with other conifers, enriches the overall look.

How to care?

Wipe with a dry cloth. Joke. Everything is the same: we water the compositions on the foam, we simply admire the dry compositions.

TUYA

This is already a familiar plant if you live in the city. Tui are planted everywhere, because they grow quickly and decorate flower beds and alleys. But of course, you don’t need to go into the yard with a pruner, it’s better, like everything else, to order thuja branches at the base.

How to store?

Thuja is the most tender of our New Year’s coniferous plants. They deliver it on the water and you need to save this food for it. We cut – and into the water. After that, store in the refrigerator and periodically change the water.

How to fix?

Just like the rest of the plants, but you need to remember that the thuja twigs are quite fragile and cannot be crushed if you attach them to the broth or wire.

Expert tip: Flat thuja sprigs can be gathered into bunches before being attached to the base of a wreath or placed in a bouquet, this will give them splendor.

How to care?

Despite the fact that thuja often turns yellow in the ground, if it doesn’t like something, cut green branches retain their color when dried, and they can be safely used not only on foam, but also in “anhydrous” compositions.

Do not limit yourself in the choice of floral material – choose, mix, be in trend. Add not only conifers, but also plants similar in texture. Do not limit the flight of your imagination, let it lead you to an unexpected and successful solution. What if you become the author of the next trend?
